Horsemanship
Level 1:
Learning in the round pen. Learn how to groom, saddle-up and ride.
Learn how to warm up the horse, trot, turn, and stop. Learn how to "cool
out" the horse, to remove the saddle, put away tack, and how to "put
the horse away." Learn the basics of horse care: taking the horse's pulse,
respirations, and temperature check. Horse vocabulary and much more.
Horsemanship Level 2:
Learning how to ride in the arena an on short trail rides. How to be safe on
the trail. Learning the basics of gymkhana maneuvers: barrels, pole bending,
and more. Learning how to groom the horse for show, rodeos, parades, and competitions.
Continued learning of horse anatomy and terminology. And lots more.
Horsemanship Level 3:
Taking all you've learned to the next level. Learning how to trailer a horse.
Traveling with a horse: getting to parks, shows, rodeos, and parades. Discovering
your area of special interest and development. Introduction to learning from
the various leaders in the horse profession. Broaden your knowledge and discover
what parts of the horsemanship field are for you. Videos, readings, books, magazines,
local events, and local people in the field are made available.
Certificates given for each level after passing written,
riding, and practical exams. Programs are developed according to the age and
interest level of the rider.
